Order Lab Tests

Submit laboratory and imaging orders for a patient, process results, and upload radiology reports in Cloud Sentrics Healthcare Management.

Request laboratory tests or imaging studies for a patient so the lab or radiology team can process and record results.

Ordering a Lab Test

  1. Go to Laboratory > Orders from the main menu.
  2. Click New Order.
  3. Select the Patient from the dropdown or search by name.
  4. Choose one or more Tests from the test catalog (e.g., "Complete Blood Count", "Urinalysis").
  5. Add any special Instructions if needed (e.g., "Fasting sample").
  6. Click Submit Order.

The order appears in the lab team's queue for processing.

Standard Lab Results

For standard tests (blood work, urinalysis, etc.), lab staff enter numeric results:

  • Result — the measured value
  • Unit — measurement unit (e.g., mg/dL, mmol/L)
  • Reference Range — normal range for comparison
  • Flag — abnormal indicator (High, Low, Critical)

Imaging & Radiology Orders

When a test group contains "radiology" or "imaging" (e.g., X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound), the system automatically switches to the imaging workflow:

  • Findings — describe what was observed in the study
  • Impression — clinical interpretation of the findings
  • Recommendation — suggested follow-up actions
  • File Upload — attach the radiology report or image file

No numeric Result/Unit/Range/Flag fields are shown for imaging orders.

Lab Technician Uploads

Staff in the Lab department can upload result files directly from the orders table:

  1. Find the order in the lab queue (must be Pending or In Progress).
  2. Click the Upload button on the order row.
  3. Select the file (PDF, image, or DICOM).
  4. The file is attached to the order and linked to the patient record.

Upload is only available for non-completed orders assigned to the Lab department.

Tips

  • You can order multiple tests in a single order.
  • Check the test catalog for available tests at your facility.
  • Imaging orders show a different results form automatically — no configuration needed.
  • Uploaded files are stored securely in the patient's lab results folder.

Itemized Invoice Printing

After submitting a lab order, the system automatically creates a billing charge and displays a Print Invoice button. The printed invoice includes:

  • Facility header (logo, name, address, phone, email)
  • Patient name and order ID
  • Each test listed individually with its price from the lab catalog
  • Grand total amount due
  • Invoice number and date
Test prices are pulled from the Lab Test catalog. Tests without a configured price will show ₦0. Ensure all tests have prices set in Lab Test Management.
